About Ivy Tea Rose, Inc.®
Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® - History
The Tea Rose Foundation, Inc. filed for non profit status in 2006. During 2006, several members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ® Nu Iota Omega Chapter worked to set a strong foundation for the work of this organization. After completing all of the necessary paperwork it was determined that another name must be selected. In 2007, The Tea Rose Foundation became Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. a 501(c)(3) organization.
Our mission statement is the guiding force for the work of this organization. Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® has provided recycling education for the Winter Park Community during the month of September to support "Go Green" day. Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® through a partnership with the Community Service Center at Margaret Square is providing a mentoring program to young girls between the ages of 8 and 17 years once monthly on Saturdays.
The girls in the mentoring program are exposed to teachings on healthy life styles, protecting our community through our Go Green Initiatives, workshops on writing styles, personal and professional etiquette as well as helping them to develop an appreciation of the arts.
Most recently, Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® has formed a partnership with the City of Winter Park Housing Authority to expose the children of Margaret Square to all forms of Art through Art for Kids. The program began in October of 2010 and will end in June of 2011. The program is designed for children between the ages of 5-12. The children who participate experience a different genre of art each month. They've danced, played drums and other percussion instruments as well as become actors and actresses.
Hannibal Square Heritage Center and Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® have partnered to present An Afternoon with the Arts. This was a free event open to the public. The Sunday afternoon program featured 3 authors, 1 graphic artist, 2 musicians and 1 poet. Again Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® focused was to expose the community to different forms of art.
Most recently, Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® has partnered with their parent organization Nu Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to assist with the chapter's annual golf tournament. The proceeds from the tournament, named after one of their deceased members is used to fund a scholarship at the Florida State University College of Law and other community programs sponsored by the sorority.
We welcome donations and support from the community to assist us with these projects. We look forward to increasing our presence in the Eatonville, Maitland, Winter Park, North Orange, South Seminole counties and surrounding communities.
