Ivy Rosettes

The Purpose

Ivy Rosettes is an organization for girls ages 9-14 sponsored by Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® a 501 (c)(3) organization under the umbrella of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® Nu Iota Omega Chapter. Its purpose is to mentor, provide academic, social and cultural development for the girls. The members of Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® will serve as chaperones as well as role models.

The Ivy Rosettes currently meet at the Community Service Center in Margaret Square, 718 Margaret Square, Winter Park, FL 32789, 407.683.3857.

To date we've had sessions on Go Green and Recycling and Pre-teen Healthy Life Styles. The girls help to develop their own community service project which involved them visiting the Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park. While visiting the residents the girls made cards and presented them to each resident.

In an effort to introduce budgeting and finance, the Ivy Tea Rose advisors planned an activity where each girl chose a profession. Each profession was researched to determine what goals each girl would need to achieve to become this professional. Then research was done to determine salary, cost of living and expenses. This is an on-going project.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Ivy Rosettes partnered with parent organization, Nu Iota Omega Chapter and performed at the Winter Park Unity Heritage Festival. Each girl chose an African American to portray at the festival.

Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. ® membership is composed of members from Nu Iota Omega Chapter. While the membership is diverse and we can offer a plethora of educational experiences, we often times utilize professionals from outside the membership. Instances where we've utilized outside professionals were, Astrid Simmons; provided a workshop on Personal Safety, April Dixon; took the girls through an activity on manners, judging people just by looking and ending with personal hygiene in a non-offensive way and Yolanda Triplett; It Is All in How You Say It! Ms. Triplett's workshop dealt with writing styles and how writing can be fun.

Meeting dates for the Ivy Rosettes are posted on this website and dates are updated frequently. Parents and/or guardians wishing to enroll their daughters in The Ivy Rosettes must complete the online Enrollment Application or download the Information Form for Ivy Rosettes, complete it, sign it and bring it along with your daughter to the next Ivy Rosettes session.
